The all-new 2023 Lexus RZ: Electrified Lexus Luxury

The new 2023 Lexus RZ introduced this week is a new electric vehicle from Lexus that promises exceptional performance, refinement, efficiency, and luxury. It will also offer the most advanced connectivity and safety technology of any electric vehicle on the market today. There’s a lot to love about the 2023 Lexus RZ and we thought we would go over the highlights of the new Lexus electric vehicle.

Impressive powertrain and DIRECT4 all-wheel drive system

The 2023 Lexus RZ will feature an impressive new all-wheel drive system called DIRECT4. This system can distribution power from the front axle to the back on a 100:0 to 0:100 ratio, meaning it can send the full torque to either the front or back as needed. The objective here is to ensure the highest level of accelerations and performance, while also making you get the best stability and traction in any setting.

As for the engine itself, the 2023 Lexus RX features a dual-motor electric setup with 150 kW over the front axle and 80 kW over the rear axle. This translates into a total output of 308 horsepower.

The electric motors are powered by a 71.4 kWh battery that will offer 360 kilometres of total range

Advanced safety and connectivity technology

The 2023 Lexus RZ will feature advanced connectivity technology housed in a centre 14-inch screen. This system can be accessed using natural voice commands for easy interactions and the best overall experience. Moreover, the 2023 Lexus RZ features the new Lexus LSS+ 3.0 advanced safety system that includes a range of features:

  • Pre-Collision System [PCS]: The driver monitor system checks the driver’s condition, and if it is determined that the driver is distracted or drowsy, judged by how often the driver looks away from the road, the system will provide an earlier timing alert and braking to help avoid a collision and/or possible damage.
  • Dynamic Radar Cruise Control [DRCC] (with full-speed follow function): While enabled, the driver monitor system will check to see if the driver is attentive, and will judge the distance from the preceding vehicle, adjusting based on the distance (time) setting (four levels available) and automatically brake when too close.
  • Lane Departure Alert [LDA]: When the driver monitor system is engaged, the system will detect the driver’s level of alertness, and, if it determines the driver is inattentive, the system activates either the alert or the steering assist at an earlier time than usual.
  • Emergency Driving Stop System [EDSS]: When Lane Trace Assist (LTA) is activated, if the driver monitor system determines that the driver becomes unable to continue driving the vehicle, the system will decelerate the vehicle and stop within the current lane to help avoid a collision or reduce the impact of a collision. To do this, the system first warns the surroundings by flashing the hazard lamps while gently decelerating the vehicle until the vehicle comes to a full stop.

The Lexus RZ will also offer an automated parking assistance feature, radiant heaters to warm up your knees, and a panoramic sunroof with a new Lexus-first auto-dimming feature.
