The differences between the 2022 Lexus RX 350 and the 2022 Lexus RX 450h

The 2022 Lexus RX returns as one of the premier luxury sport utility vehicles in the midsize SUV segment.  The 2022 Lexus RX features an impressive combination of luxury, refinement, comfort, performance, and reliability which is something that we rarely find in the luxury SUV segment.

The all-new 2022 Lexus RX comes in multiple versions which are sure to meet the needs of most buyers.  These include a long-wheelbase version which offers 3 rows of seats. That said, when looking at the Lexus RX line up, you will notice that there are two distinct powertrains available to you, a traditional V6 engine and a hybrid. These are offered respectively in the 2022 Lexus RX 350 and the 2022 Lexus RX 450h.  Let's look at some of the differences between these two models.

For starters, the 2022 Lexus RX 350 is powered by a 3.5 L V6 engine which delivers 295 horsepower and 267 lb-ft of torque. This engine is paired with an eight-speed automatic and it averages around 10 L per 100 km in terms of fuel consumption.

The 2022 Lexus RX 450h is powered by the same engine, but it is paired with an electric motor that receives its energy from a 1.9 kilowatt hour battery. In other words, you get the benefits of an electric motor as well as the benefits of a gas engine. This engine delivers 308 horsepower but even more impressive is the fuel consumption rating which is less than 8 L per 100 km on average.

The Lexus RX 450h is a traditional hybrid, not a plug-in hybrid. That means that you do not have to charge the battery, it will charge itself. You do not have to change the way you drive and you do not have to worry about range. You get better performance as well thanks to the input of both the gas engine and the electric engine. But the major difference here is that you get much better fuel economy.

On the other hand, you get about 20 L less cargo space in the RX 450h and the most significant difference aside from the fuel economy is the cost. The 2022 Lexus RX 450h costs about $3,000 more than the RX 350 in the base model, and roughly $17,000 more in the L version because the RX 450h L only comes in the top trim.

You do get the value you expect from Lexus despite the higher price, but for some the Improvement in fuel economy may not be worth it.

You can't go wrong either way with the 2022 Lexus RX, it's just a question of figuring out which model is best for you. Give us a call today and we can help you do just that.
